East Kirkby Annual Parish Meeting
16th April 2026 – 18.30 start
Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and reiterated that this is a meeting for the parishioners (MoP = Members of the Public).
Chairman ensured that all present had seen and read the draft minutes from the meeting in 2025. These draft minutes had been agreed and signed off at the May 2025 Parish Council meeting and published on the website. Again, minutes were unanimously agreed by all present and signed off.
Village Hall Update: There is a new committee in place and there are quite a few new activities. The accounts are positive and in good order.
Chairman’s report: As a Parish council we are viable and things are running according to the Medium-Term Financial Plan. Chairman summarized the last years as follows:
April: The annual Rural Services Network subscription was agreed and arranged.
May: The entire parish council was re-elected and the cake allowance instigated.
June: AGAR was approved, signed off and submitted. Civility and Respect pledge was signed by all Councillors.
September: saw the notice board refurbishment. A new road surface was laid on Fen Road.
October: Macmillan coffee morning raised an astonishing amount. The plans for the memorial service were agreed.
November: Agreement finalised for the change over to a .gov.uk email address.
January: West Keal Parish Council instigated queries regarding the caravans on the airfield. Work on the footpath was suggested and agreed.
February: Cllr Roberts confirmed that the work on the footpath was delayed.
March: Footpath works started. An approach was made to BBC Look North to highlight the tardiness of this footpath repair, but nothing has been forthcoming
Chairman thanked all the Councillors for their support and help. Chairman also thanked the Parish Clerk for her help and support. Chairman then turned the meeting over to the Members of the Public for any questions and comments that they had.
MoP mentioned that roadworks are scheduled for Chapel Road and all present expressed the hope that the works would be carried out to a better standard than the last roadworks on Fen Road.
Cllr Brandwood mentioned a conversation regarding white poppies that he had had with Mr Donnelly of the RBL. This was because the Parish Council and MoPs discussed this last month where the general consensus was to not add white poppies to the wall of red and purple poppies.
Chairman closed the Annual Parish Meeting at 18.57.
